The cabinet has fallen, Arjen Lubach is on a transmitter with his satirical program, but there is no one talking about him. “And that is indicative of his crumbling status now that he is at RTL.”
Arjen Lubach was once the big promise in television country. He made programs on the country’s most watched TV channel NPO 1, but has sold his soul to the commercials and now makes television between Gerard Joling and Ruben Nicolai on RTL 4. Provides a lot of money, an extra villa, but what does the long term look like for the presenter?
Impact
According to Angela de Jong, it is very much striking how little impact arjen still has today. Now that the cabinet has fallen you would expect it to excel, but she doesn’t hear anyone about him. “Nobody. Nobody at all.”
She continues in her notorious AD Column: “And that is indicative of his crumbling status now that he is at RTL. He has lost his impact since the switch.”
Coffee machine
In the past, everyone was talking about Arjen at the coffee machine, says Angela. That has not happened for a while. “Yes, if he again has such a disastrous standup comedian who does not bowl anyone, then it is about Lubach. But otherwise not.”
His program has also become ‘really less’ at RTL, she says. “Now, after an episode, I immediately forgot what I have just seen.”
‘Sting? Fascinating! ‘
TV authority Tina Nijkamp finds it witty that Arjen announced on social media so hysterically that Sting would join him yesterday. “Nice that Sting comes by, but all day long hysterical about it on his socials. While, it is not that special. He is a guest at a Dutch talk show once or twice every year.”
What yielded the PR talk from Sting? She snifes up Instagram: “Lubach had the day of his life because he was very enthusiastic about that Sting came to visit. That also scored? Mwoah. 651,000 viewers. And that is the lowest score of the week for Arjen. Oh yes, Sting was not there for a depth interview but to sell tickets.”
