Are Sancho and Maatsen ready yet, Mr. Terzic?

Borussia Dortmund will face SV Darmstadt 98 in the last first round game of the season (Saturday, 6:30 p.m.). The questions that are probably most on BVB fans’ minds in advance: Is the returnee Jadon Sancho ready to play yet? And what about second winter transfer Ian Maatsen?

The answer may be available at the Black and Yellow press conference on Friday morning. sport.de accompanies the PK 11:30 a.m here in the detailed live blog.

+++ BVB makes Maatsen deal official +++

Left-back Ian Maatsen is on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season. BVB announced this on Friday morning shortly before the start of the PK. There is no purchase option for the Dutchman. How does Terzic plan with the new addition? Is the 21-year-old possibly in Borussia’s matchday squad on Saturday?

+++ Is Jadon Sancho directly in the BVB squad? +++

Jadon Sancho is returning to BVB, but only until the end of the season and with no prospect of a permanent commitment. But is the offensive star, who thrilled Dortmund fans with his goals and assists between 2017 and 2021, already ready to be an option for coach Terzic against Darmstadt 98 after months without match practice?

+++ What does Borussia Dortmund’s staff look like? +++

The absence of Julian Ryerson in particular presents BVB with a tricky task before the Bundesliga restart. The flexible full-back would actually be the ideal candidate to replace Ramy Bensebaini on the left side. Central defender Nico Schlotterbeck will probably help out on the left against the promoted team, as talented Guille Bueno was also injured in the training camp.

Meanwhile, what about Marius Wolf (respiratory infection), Felix Nmecha (hip problems), Karim Adeyemi (torn syndesmotic ligament) and Julien Duranville (muscle injury)?
