mr. WF (Wim) Saris becomes director-general of the Custodial Institutions Service at the Ministry of Justice and Security. The Council of Ministers has approved the proposal of Minister Bruins Slot of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The appointment will take effect on May 1, 2022.

Wim Saris has been director-general of Punishments and Protection since August 2018. From August 2018 to April 2020, he was also Director General of the Police and Security Regions. He was previously acting Director-General of Police. He previously held various positions, including Director of Resources at the Directorate-General for Police and Director of Strategy and Policy at the General Intelligence and Security Service at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.

Wim Saris studied Dutch Law at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He obtained a Master of Public Administration from the Dutch School of Public Administration.

This appointment was made on the basis of the procedure for the top management group of the General Administrative Service.
