Eventually the fire brigade decided to make a hole in the flat roof connected to its building to prevent transfer. “As a result, the fire has not been skipped to us,” she says. “Our front door is broken, it was broken open by the fire brigade. I just came running with the key.”

Just celebrated the anniversary

Her chocolate shop has been around since June 2020. “Two weeks ago we celebrated our five -year anniversary,” says Van Dalfsen. “And then this happens. But there are so many people who sympathize, that’s really beautiful.”

The damage in the store is ultimately limited. “It is mainly the front door, some water here and there, but it is not so bad. Nothing is hit upstairs. We really had a lot of luck.”

Chocolate into the trash

Yet the fire has consequences. “All open chocolate in the store must be thrown away. Everything that is packed can stay happy. But I now smell it myself: the smoke. We normally have a completely different scent here. So I can all throw this away. Really a shame.”
