Ann Van den Broeck has breast cancer: “I’m going to battle this unannounced motherfucker” | BV

BVBad news for Ann Van den Broeck (45): the musical actress has breast cancer. She makes this known on social media. Van den Broeck will still be seen in the popular musical ‘Mamma Mia’, albeit only in the evening performances. “We want to give her enough rest in this tough battle”, says theater producer Deep Bridge.

“Bad news spreads quickly, so I would like to inform you of the correct information myself,” Ann Van den Broeck said on social media. “Very recently I was diagnosed with breast cancer. In the coming period I will receive the necessary professional treatments with all the unpleasant consequences that entails. I hope, believe and assume that I will be able to continue my private life and my professional activities to the best of my ability in the coming months, but in the meantime I will go to battle and fight together with my supporters against this unannounced and uninvited motherfucker. ”

“I’m preparing for a tough year with a positive mindset, because as Nietzsche once said: ‘Was mich nicht umbringt macht mich stärker’”, she continues. Meanwhile, expressions of support are pouring in on social media. Tinne Oltmans, Ianthe Tavernier, Katja Retsin and Peter Van de Velde, among others, express their support for the actress. “Yes you can, make use of the shoulders we want to keep under you”, for example, is the voice of Leen Dendievel. And her partner, Stany Crets, meanwhile says: “We will get through it. Fuck the cancer.”

Next Friday, the popular musical ‘Mamma Mia’, in which Ann plays a leading role, will be resumed in the Stadsschouwburg in Antwerp. The direction is in the hands of Stany Crets, Ann’s partner. Peter Mariën of Deep Bridge says that Ann will indeed still be seen in the musical. “ All evening performances of ‘Mamma Mia’ will continue as planned. Both in Antwerp and Hasselt.” During the matinées (the afternoon performances), she will be replaced by an understudy, who will be announced by Deep Bridge on Monday. “It’s a tough battle, so we want to give her enough rest and not burden her too much,” it still sounds.
