The time of Andreas “Zecke” Neuendorf near Hertha BSC is over. As a director of the academy and license player area, the long -time professional no longer continues.
Andreas “Zecke” Neuendorf is no longer active for Hertha BSC. The 50-year-old resigned as director of the academy and license player area- with immediate effect. He informed about his resignation immediately after the 3-2 win against SSV Ulm on Easter Sunday immediately after the 3-2 success. The club announced this in an official explanation.
Neuendorf justified his step with personal reasons: “I made this decision anything but easy, because Hertha BSC is my club. The past few years have been very challenging for the club and also me.
And further: “I deliberately decided to take this step and to communicate my decision. Hertha has the opportunity to search for a suitable successor early and to plan the coming season.”
The club reacted to the resignation: “The decision of tick is a big step that we naturally respect,” said Managing Director Thomas E. Herrich. President Fabian Drescher added: “We lose a blue and white veteran with tick. He will always be welcome in the future. Once Herthaner, always Herthaner.”
Born in Berlin, he was connected to the club for many years. Between 1998 and 2010 he played a total of 196 competitive games for Hertha. After his career end, Neuendorf was involved in the youth area of the club. At the beginning of 2023 he was given the position as director of the young and license player area.
