At the time of the liberation of Belgium, it is estimated that some 150,000 compatriots took part in the Resistance against the Nazis in World War II. As many as 45,000 of them ended up as political prisoners, as many as 15,000 died. Who were those resistance heroes of the first hour? And why do we hear so little about them and their followers?
