The magazine’s readers were horrified by the news, and especially on Twitter, the discussion quickly escalated and speculations ran hot as to whether the folk rock legend is really dead.

However, it soon dawned that it was a mistake by People magazine, in which a pre-written obituary about Mitchell had slipped into the open.

The abbreviation TK is an abbreviation used in English journalism for the words to come and its spelling is often used in this context as TK. The term is used especially when, for example, the obituary has been prepared and the age or date is to be updated at the right time.

Later, a representative of People magazine apologized for the incident New York Post for the magazine.

– Mitchell’s death news, which was already written earlier today, was accidentally published on our website. The article has now been removed and we apologize for the error.

Joni Mitchell’s health condition has worried fans all over the world, as the Canadian singer was found unconscious in her home in 2015. In the hospital, Mitchell was diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm, i.e. a bulging of the cerebral artery. As a result, he lost his ability to speak and walk.

Since then, Mitchell has practiced walking, talking and playing again, and last performed in the summer of 2022 at the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island.
