Robin Kaye, long-time music supervisor of the American casting show “American Idol”, was killed together with her husband Thomas Deluca at the age of 70 in her house in Encino, California. According to the previous information from the police, a 22-year-old man from Los Angeles is suspected of being responsible for the crime.

What happened?
The incident occurred on Thursday, July 10, 2025. According to investigations, the suspect should have entered the secure house in the absence of the couple. When Robin Kaye and her husband returned, there was apparently confrontation, as a result of which both were shot. They were found in different rooms of the house.
Neighbors already had on the day of the crime: according to a report by the broadcaster “Kabc-TV”, suspicious activities reported on the property. A man was observed how he had climbed over the fence of the property. However, the alarmed emergency services could not get access to the building because the house was heavily secured. Even a police helicopter used above the property did not initially report any abnormalities.

It was not until four days later, on Monday, July 14th, the police were informed again after relatives were unable to contact Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca for days. Together with one of the relatives who had access to the property, the civil servant entered: inside the house. The two corpses were discovered there.
The perpetrator probably had no personal relationship with Robin Kaye
The police assume that the perpetrator spent about 30 minutes in the house before the couple arrived. According to previous knowledge, there are no evidence of a personal relationship between the suspect and the victims. It is currently unclear whether something was stolen. The alleged perpetrator was arrested on July 15th.
