Amazone Sanne Voets excels at the World Cup and is again world champion

Amazone Sanne Voets once again crowned herself as world dressage champion in Denmark on Sunday morning. The disabled rider from Berghem was ahead of the American Kate Shoemaker in the Grade IV class. Sanne came to a score of 82.485 percent. Shoemaker got stuck at a score of 80.275 percent.

Sanne had qualified as number one for this final on Wednesday, with a score of 76.750 percent. Then she was 0.75 percent ahead of compatriot Demi Haerkens. Shoemaker finished third in that qualifying series.

Shoemaker was at the top for a long time in the final, but in the last stage Voets managed to pass her.

On Saturday Sanne won gold with the Dutch team, which also consisted of Demi Haerkens, Lotte Krijnsen and Frank Hosmar, during the team competition. The Paralympic dressage champion of 2021 and 2016 also excelled in that competition.

Sanne received a score of no less than 78.415 percent for her freestyle on her horse Demantur. “A new world record”, she beamed after that performance. “And that during the world championship in Herning, where I won my very first major title nine years ago! I have no words for that.”

Also good luck for jumping team
Maikel van der Vleuten from Geldrop and Harrie Smolders from Lage Mierde also had success in Herning this week. They conquered with the Dutch jumping team, which consisted of Sanne Thijssen and Jur Vrieling, on Friday a silver medal during the team competition for able-bodied riders and amazons . The Orange foursome also qualified for the Olympic Games in 2024. The gold went to Sweden.

The Orange seemed to have no chance in the battle for a medal halfway through the second round. Because Vrieling and Smolders left all the beams behind and almost all competitors made a mistake, the Dutch quartet still advanced to silver.
