At the start of the year, Amazon recorded the highest growth rate since 2022 in its AWS cloud division. The segment’s sales in the first three months of the year increased by 28 percent year-on-year to almost 38 billion dollars (around 32.5 billion euros).
Overall, the trading and technology group’s revenues climbed by 17 percent to $181.5 billion. Operating profit increased by 30 percent to almost $24 billion. Revenues and operating results were better than analysts had expected. The bottom line is that profits rose by almost 77 percent to $30.25 billion.
In addition, the sales forecast for the second quarter also exceeded market expectations. However, due to high investments in expanding the business with the cloud and products related to artificial intelligence (AI), the inflow of payment means (cash flow) fell significantly.
