Mikaela Shiffrin’s show continues at the World Cup in Are, Sweden. The American is heading for the next record in slalom.

Mikaela Shiffrin is well on the way to adding the next entry in the alpine ski history books to her outstanding record-breaking slalom season in Are. With one win, the 27-year-old can become the sole record holder with 87 World Cup successes twelve years (March 11, 2011) after her World Cup debut. The American has already secured the discipline ball in slalom and giant slalom. The overall World Cup is also in dry cloths.

Shiffrin conjures up a cream run in the snow

Even after all the records that had been set, Shiffrin left no doubt that she still wants to be the winner on the podium at the end of the season. The technology specialist curved elegantly through the bars and set the best time for her competitors with a great run. “After the fantastic day yesterday“She didn’t feel any pressure today, Shiffrin said in an ORF interview.

Dürr fails in the first round

Lena Dürr, on the other hand, did not find the ideal line through the course. In a run that wasn’t entirely flawless, she was able to prevent the premature end after a reserve, but with 1.62 seconds she was already a full deficit of the outstanding Shiffrin in eighth place.

Youngster Emma Aicher (+2.30 seconds) was in the top 15. Jessica Hilzinger (+3.25) was 30th. For both of them it is also about participating in the season finale in Adorra. Team colleague Andrea Filser (+3.86) is no longer there in the second race as 38th.

Things went better for the Swede Anna Swenn Larrsson, who with 0.69 seconds as the second fastest has her sights on the podium. The Swiss Wendy Holdener (+0.94) is third before the final.

In Åre, Sweden, the American Mikaela Shiffrin dominated the giant slalom and with her success equaled Ingemar Stenmark’s long-term record. It was her 86th World Cup victory – the summary.
