It is the 25th Olympic Winter Games that will be opened in Italy on February 6, 2026. Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo prevailed against the Swedish competition from Stockholm and Are and thus ensure the third Olympics in Italy to Cortina d’Ampezzo 1956 and Turin 2006.
Olympic Winter Games 2026: Where are the competitions held?

In the 25th edition of Winter Olympics, competitions are set in 16 disciplines. There should be a total of 116 competitions (54 for men, 50 for women, 12 mixed competitions). Ski mountaineering is there for the first time.

- Ski jumping: 6 decisions (divided into 3x men, 2x women and 1x mixed)
- Snowboard: 11 decisions (divided into 5x men, 5x women and 1x mixed)
When will the medals be awarded?
The first games in the curling start two days before the opening ceremony. Most decisions are made on the penultimate day – there are a whole ten times about gold. On the day of the final party, i.e. February 22nd, there are four decisions before, including those about the men’s ice hockey crown.
