Alisa Vainio ran the half marathon to become the Finnish champion in Rauma.

The winning time of 1.12.22 dramatically improved the 24-year-old runner’s previous record by four minutes and 11 seconds.

The value of the performance is further enhanced by the fact that a week ago Vainio ran his own record in a full marathon in Rotterdam.

– Of course it weighed on my legs. It wasn’t quite the same vibe as fresh feet. But when the soles are in order, there were no problems, Vainio said.

Vainio escaped from the others together at the beginning of the race Annemari Kiekaran with. When Kiekara had to interrupt, the table was covered for Vainio.

He ran the men’s Finnish champion Antti Ihamäki with a record time of 1.05.47.
