We already knew that Chinese manufacturers are not averse to a little plagiarism. Earlier this year, Autovisie was at the Shanghai car fair, where we the six most shameless copy-cats collected for you.

Chinese Range Rover for a bargain price

This Rox 01 is by no means the worst copy that has ever rolled out of China. The design is certainly not a one-to-one copy, but it is clear where this brand new Chinese car brand got its inspiration. For example, the nose and side view resemble the current Land Rover Defender, while the headlights and taillights are strongly reminiscent of the fourth generation Range Rover. By the way, not only Chinese brands are guilty of this, either this well-known middle class brand suddenly comes up with a budget Range Rover.

Better a good steal than a bad idea. This PHEV from China is not ugly. Moreover, it costs much less than the real deal. While a Defender 110 will cost you at least 93,500 euros and a Range Rover even one and a half tons, this Chinese car has a price tag of just over 68,000 euros.

Plug-in hybrid

That is a lot more than you pay for the average AliExpress order, but not that much for a real luxury SUV, because that is what this is. It’s a big car. The 01 measures over 5.29 meters in length. That’s even more than an extended wheelbase Range Rover!

The colossus also sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. He owes this entirely to his electric motors. Although there is a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder in the front, this fuel engine only serves as a range extender. Think of it as a kind of generator for the 56 kWh battery. According to the WLTP measurement method, it can drive 235 kilometers completely electrically. In total, the powertrain delivers 476 hp and 740 Nm of torque.

On the inside, this Rox 01 is bursting with luxury. Perhaps this Chinese SUV pampers its occupants even more than a Range Rover does, because it has to score especially in China and the Middle East. For example, look at the second row of seats, which consists of two soft seats. Maybe armchairs is the better term. Naturally, they are heated and cooled and have a massage function. This doesn’t seem to be junk.

Can you really order it on AliExpress?

Doesn’t sound bad at all. But hey, who dares to order it? If you do that, you can also pay 4,575 euros in shipping costs, as AliExpress charges. We would advise against that. After all, you will not be allowed to drive it on the road in the Netherlands without arranging individual type approval with the RDW. Anyone who really wants this Chinese Range Rover must hope that Rox will one day make the move to Europe. Not unthinkable, because many others have already preceded the brand.
