Alicia Keys rejects anti-Semitism allegations: “I pray for peace”

Her community understood her paragliding post on Instagram as a reference to the Hamas terrorist attack.

Alicia Keys received a lot of criticism for an Instagram post on Monday (October 16). In the photo shared, the singer can be seen wearing a green biker jacket and in the caption she asked the community: “What would you do if you weren’t afraid of anything?” She herself added: “I have an eye on paragliding thrown…” This was followed by two side-eye emojis. Instead of comprehensive answers, the musician was then confronted with accusations of anti-Semitism.

Many followers saw the caption as an allusion to Hamas’ terrorist attack on Israel. Keys was accused in the comments section of “promoting terrorism.” The reason for this was the fact that Hamas also used paragliders in their attacks. For example, one user wrote: “You are promoting the barbaric acts of the Hamas terrorists who came to Israel and killed more than 1,300 innocent CHILDREN, women, men, the elderly and BABIES. I’m completely speechless. You disgust me.”

After the musician removed the post, she has now positioned herself in an Instagram story and rejected the allegations. “The post I shared had in no way anything to do with the recent devastating loss of innocent lives,” Keys said. “My heart is broken… I pray for peace and stand up for it,” she continues.
