Ajax tears up contract and after four years is rid of bad buy Magallán

Lisandro Magallan’s stay at Ajax has come to an end after four years. The club announced today that the Argentinian’s contract, which ran until next summer, has been dissolved.

Magallán came over from the Argentinian Boca Juniors in the winter of 2019. At that time, Ajax had just had a lot of success with South American purchases such as Davinson Sanchez, David Neres and Nico Tagliafico. It soon became clear to Magallán that he would not join that list. He made his basic debut against Feyenoord, but immediately went horribly wrong a few times. He hardly appeared in Erik ten Hag’s plans for the rest of the season.

Magallán, got a few more raids, but also failed to impress in those moments. During the fiasco against Tottenham Hotspur (2-3), the Argentinian came in in the last minute. Every Ajax player sometimes wakes up screaming about how it went afterwards. In a 2-2 draw, he made another mistake from which Lucas Moura managed to score his third goal.

In the seasons that followed, Magallán was rented out each time. First with the Spanish Deportivo Alaves, later with the Italian Crotone and Anderlecht from Belgium, where he played until last season. After that there was no more club for Magallán and so he trained again at the Toekomst for the first half of this season.
