On Friday, the French first division club FC Toulouse announced the end of the collaboration with midfielder Branco van den Boomen at the end of the season. The 27-year-old’s contract expires. According to information from “Voetbal International‘ the second most valuable player from the Ligue 1 club’s squad returns to his native Netherlands and joins Ajax Amsterdam.
The former U20 national player was trained there between 2011 and 2014 before he made the leap to the pros at PSV Eindhoven. Toulouse had secured the services of the right foot in 2020 for a fee of 350,000 euros, in the past three years van den Boomen has increased his market value from 550,000 euros at the time to 9 million euros – the highest value in his career so far.
The record of 68 goal participations in 116 competitive games for Toulouse had recently attracted several interested parties, including former club PSV, Galatasaray and VfL Wolfsburg. Now, however, Ajax seems to be securing van den Boomen’s services on a free transfer.
