Ajax does not pass KAS Eupen on debut Bergwijn and Wijndal

Today Ajax drew 1-1 at its own Sports complex De Toekomst against KAS Eupen. Mohamed Kudus was the only Ajax player who managed to score against the Belgian opponent. Owen Wijndal and Steven Bergwijn made their first appearance at Ajax.

Ajax entered this preparation for the first time with only renowned players in the starting line-up. Lisandro Martinez, on the other hand, was missing. The Argentine defender is about to sign with Manchester United.

After almost half an hour of play, Ajax got the biggest chance of the first half. Kenneth Taylor, who today signed a new contract, put the ball well back to Dusan Tadic. However, the captain of Ajax could not press the ball enough, so that the shot went over the goal.

New names

In the second half, trainer Alfred Schreuder chose six new names. Wijndal and Bergwijn, among others, were allowed to take a seat on the bench. Five minutes after tea, however, the ball was in the net behind Jay Gorter. Eupen striker Smail Prevljak managed to outwit the Ajax goalkeeper with a lob. In the final phase of the game, Kudus equalized on a pass from Nicolás Tagliafico on behalf of Ajax, so that the team from Amsterdam did not against their second defeat of this preparation.

On Sunday Ajax will leave for Austria on a training camp. On July 19 it will play there against RB Salzburg and on July 23 against Eintracht Frankfurt.
