FC Groningen reported this on Monday afternoon.

The match was stopped by referee Bas Nijhuis after Ajax fans set off a lot of fireworks. When that happened again after the restart, the game was permanently stopped. The remainder will be played in an empty stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

FC Groningen: ‘All parties suffered from the abandoned match with Ajax’

“Ajax has informed FC Groningen that it will compensate the entrance tickets for the 1,200 supporters who were in the guest section in Amsterdam on Sunday evening. FC Groningen emphasizes that all parties involved are the victims of the disturbances in the Johan Cruijff ArenA and the eventual definitive suspension of the competition match,” said FC Groningen, which compliments its own fans.

“The club is proud of how the FC supporters handled the situation in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Before, during and after the match, the FC supporters behaved correctly – as true supporters of the club – and created an excellent and positive football atmosphere.”

FC Groningen will transfer the purchase amount for Sunday’s ticket to the relevant supporters as quickly as possible.

Menno Geelen, general manager of Ajax, announced earlier on Monday that he also wanted to compensate the affected Ajax supporters. “We have decided to compensate all those people. How and what are we going to inform those people. This is the least we can do,” he said.
