Again it goes wrong on one of the bus lines around Ter Apel. In this case at the Center stop in the village itself on line 73.

It is Thursday evening around half past eight. Qbuzz driver Roelof Eerenstein from Sleen has one other passenger in his bus when he stops in the heart of Ter Apel. A man steps in there, who immediately starts calling that he has no money. Eerenstein does not hesitate for a moment and lets the man know “in his best English” that the party will not go ahead. “But he did sit down. I tried to get him out of the bus. I realized that things would go wrong and immediately pressed the emergency button to alert the police,” he says RTV Noord.

Then it gets very fast. “The man really went crazy. He screamed and kicked it hard against the check -in post, who was bragging. After that it was the turn of the ATM. Little remained. By standing on a trash basket, he also tried to get to me through the dashboard, but that was lucky. off. “

And two agents come to the bus at full speed: “The stop is close to the police station of Ter Apel. There were two more police officers. One of the agents was outside and heard all the tumult. They were very quickly with the taser in the attack. They worked him on the floor and bent.”

The former professional soldier switched to the bus a year and a half ago. “Just because I like to do it. I enjoy it, but then you don’t have to experience something like that too often.”

He is already over the shock. “When I got out of the bus, I was still vibrating. That was over soon. My other passenger experienced everything. After the paperwork was arranged I delivered it to the Emmen station. I thanked him for his support. The next day I was already on the bus again.”

Eerenstein has already left the harmful adventure behind. “I am not so quickly upset. I am a sober Drent. That saves,” says the bus driver from Sleen.

He did, however, shared his experiences on line 73 on Facebook. “I did that to write it off. I had to say it now. It is raining reactions. Certainly from colleagues who are worried about our safety.”

The incident in his bus does not stand on its own. More than three weeks ago, his colleague Johan Pesulima was attacked in his bus, between Emmen and Musselkanaal. That too was on line 73. For him that was a reason to argue for entry controls at Emmen station.

The trade unions then also ringed the alarm bell over the increasing aggression in the buses between the station of Emmen and Ter Apel.

Extra supervisors were used by Qbuzz at the station of Emmen and at the bus station in Ter Apel. Eerenstein had nothing to do with that. The services of these boas are usually on the end of the afternoon.

Qbuzz was not available for a response to the incident in the Eerenstein bus.
