After large statue Amalia now miniature versions in the making | 1Limburg

After the metre-high Amalia statue, Oranjefan Johan Vlemmix also has smaller statues of the crown princess made.

The Netherlands’ most famous Orange admirer gave Princess Amalia (18) a statue on a three-meter high pedestal during King’s Day in Maastricht. “There were so many reactions from the country. Fans loved that I did this and now there are miniature versions,” says Vlemmix.

‘First copies ready’
Even from Germany, according to Vlemmix, there are fanatics who want to get hold of a smaller statue of the future Queen of the Netherlands. “Amalia is very popular there.” The 63-year-old from Brabant, who owns several buildings in Limburg, has 500 small Amalia figurines produced. “They are made in Italy and the first copies are already ready.”

Affordable for everyone
The large image is a 3D print and made of plastic. This means that the image is built up layer by layer. The mini figurines – which are about 30 centimeters in size – are not printed, but pressed. “That goes faster. Otherwise it will all become too expensive. You want to give people something and I don’t want to make money from it. They have to be affordable for everyone,” says Vlemmix.

Royal store
When the first shipment arrives in the Netherlands and where the figurines are offered for sale, the fan of the royal family still has to find out. “Maybe online or someone offers to sell them in a store. Or I’ll start my own royal shop in Limburg,” said the sixties.

Statue is in Beek
His gigantic gift to the crown princess is still in Beek for now. As soon as Amalia signals where she wants the statue, his ‘present’ can be transported.
