After the new coach Patrick Glöckner (to the article), TSV 1860 Munich also presented a new addition to the player squad. Midfielder Philipp Maier is moving to the Lions from second division club SSV Ulm 1846. The 30-year-old, who spent his career before Ulm exclusively in Bavaria – Schweinfurt, Burghausen and Rosenheim – is the third division club’s first winter signing. According to the club, he costs a transfer fee, about which no further information was provided.
“Moving to TSV 1860 Munich is a big wish for me coming true,” said Maier in a statement on the club website. “I kept my fingers crossed for the Lions as a child and am now very happy to be able to wear the white and blue jersey and play in front of the great fans. I can’t wait to get started.”
1860 sports director Dr. Christian Werner said about the previous Ulmer, who had contributed 13 goals and four assists in 113 games since 2021: “With Philipp Maier we have managed to make a transfer that will help us immediately. With him we can stabilize our midfield and at the same time have a player who poses a goal threat. I am very happy that we managed to realize this transfer after trusting discussions with Philipp, but also with both shareholders of TSV 1860 Munich. My thanks for the good cooperation also go to those responsible at SSV Ulm 1846.”
