The game against Bodø/Glimt ends in disappointment for Borussia Dortmund. After the game, BVB’s defense chief vented his anger.
After the game, BVB defender Nico Schlotterbeck vented his anger about his team’s performance – with clear words: “Everyone plays their own game,” said Schlotterbeck on DAZN on Wednesday evening, also attacking his teammates. What’s more: “The players who come in lose every ball. And I always say: a winning mentality sometimes means killing the game. We couldn’t manage that at all.”
Schlotterbeck indirectly directed his criticism at the substitutes, without naming Karim Adeyemi and Serhou Guirassy, who were brought on after 67 minutes. “If you come in in the 60th minute, I expect 30 minutes of full steam,” said Schlotterbeck. “It all looked nice, we combined a bit on the right and left, but you have to kill and we didn’t do that.”
The 26-year-old continued: “We want to make it a little nice and that’s not enough. We’re playing the Champions League and that’s far too little. It’s not bitter, it’s just really bad.” They could have “gone to 13 points here,” “and I think some people don’t realize how important that is. That’s why it’s not bitter, it’s just really bad.”
Dortmund’s opponents are not getting any easier: Borussia still has to play away at Tottenham Hotspur (January 20th) and at home against Inter Milan (January 28th).
