ZDF wants to say goodbye to a Christmas Eve tradition next year and rearrange its television program on December 24th.

“Christmas Eve will be redesigned in 2024,” the public broadcaster said on Sunday in response to a dpa request, after several media outlets had previously reported on it. Since 2012, ZDF has been offering the show “Christmas Eve with Carmen Nebel” on the eve of Christmas.

The show started in 2012 with 3.15 million viewers (market share 15.8 percent). Last year there were 1.70 million (9.2 percent).

But this year, fans can look forward to the classic again: “Christmas Eve with Carmen Nebel” will be broadcast on ZDF on December 24, 2023 at 8:15 p.m., the broadcaster announced. “We are pleased that Carmen Nebel will also be presenting “The Most Beautiful Christmas Hits” on ZDF both this year and in 2024,” it said, referring to the fundraising gala hosted by Carmen Nebel (67).
