‘Africa’s greatest talent’ on the radar? Competition from RB Leipzig threatens

In their constant search for promising talent, Eintracht Frankfurt has apparently targeted centre-forward Adama Bojang from Gambia’s FC Steve Biko. RB Leipzig is probably also putting out feelers.

The 19-year-old Bojang is already considered a super talent in Africa. “For me, Bojang is currently Africa’s greatest talent,” agent Sascha Empacher told the fussballtransfers.com portal in May.

Bojang recently caused a stir with the Gambian U20 national team. He scored four goals in six games at the U20 Africa Cup in February and March.

The striker even managed a hat-trick in a 5-0 thrashing of South Sudan in the quarter-finals. Only in the final did Gambia lose 2-0 to Senegal.

Bojang was also able to shine at the recently ended U20 World Cup. He opened the scoring twice against Honduras to seal the 2-1 win. In the round of 16, however, it was against eventual world champions Uruguay (0:1).

The fact that Bojang will continue to play in Gambia long after he has used the stage for himself and attracted attention is ruled out. His advisor has already emphasized: “We want to give him a platform on which he can develop as best as possible.”

Numerous clubs from Europe are said to have already expressed their interest. The “Daily Mail” and the “Mirror” from England recently reported that Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are trying to hire the centre-forward.

Inter Milan, Olympique Marseille and Sporting Lisbon have probably also put out feelers.

Are Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig involved in Bojang?

Africa expert Ed Aarons, who writes for the “Guardian”, tweeted that Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig are also interested in Bojang, as are Liverpool FC and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

According to Aarons, FC Steve Biko, named after a South African civil rights activist, is demanding three million euros for Bojang.

Other storm candidates have also been traded at Eintracht Frankfurt, since Rafael Borré and Lucas Alario are on a strike list for Hesse, according to “Bild”. In addition, there is no guarantee that Randal Kolo Muani will play for SBU next season.

According to “Frankfurter Rundschau”, Eintracht is dealing with Victor Boniface from Belgian club Royale Union Saint Gilloise and Ermedin Demirovic from Bundesliga competitor FC Augsburg.
