In Ypres, an action group has collected 3,500 signatures to keep the remains of a medieval castle and to make them accessible to the public. The petition was handed over to the city and province this afternoon.
Next week all involved will discuss the future of the site, where a supermarket was first planned. Experts confirm that it is a thousand year old burial castle. The Flemish Minister for Heritage Ben Weyts was willing to contribute financially to the preservation.
