What do Finns choose on their bread? Very often cheese, reveals a recent study commissioned by Vaasan. As many as 77 % of the respondents said they were mostly choosing a cheese on bread. 49 % of Finnish consumers believe that cheese is definitely on the bread.

63 % said they most often choose vegetables, 50 % of muscle slices and 47 % of vegetable margarine.

Most of the respondents had reduced the eating of the cuts (28 %). Every fifth said they would not eat cold cuts of red meat at all.

In the cuts, some have moved from red meat to poultry and some to cheese and vegetables and vegetable -based alternatives. Up to 38 % said they needed healthier bread covers.

Cheese is worn in families with children, the ham is especially eating men

Cheese on bread is especially favored by families with children and those aged 45-54.

Vegetables are favored by families with children and women, young people and residents of the Helsinki metropolitan area. About 20 % of respondents reported that they had increased the eating of vegetables over the last six months.

Men, 45-64 year olds and smaller residents are particularly popular with red meat cuts.

– The background of the survey results is likely to be influenced by the new nutrition recommendations released at least at some level in the autumn. In the recommendations, the number of vegetables called for increasing and decreasing meat products, and it is these changes to the results of the survey, Vaasan Oy’s Senior Category Manager Mikko Kaijansinkko says in the bulletin.
