Xpeng Launches Electric SUV L03 with Fast Driving Assistance in Europe

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng is set to make a significant entrance into the European market with its compact electric SUV, the L03. Scheduled for a global reveal on July 16, 2026, in Munich, this launch marks a strategic move to compete with established names in the automotive industry. Moreover, pre-orders for the L03 have already commenced in China as of July 2, with plans for availability in 64 countries by the year’s end.

The Xpeng L03: A Global Vision

The L03 is positioned as Xpeng’s first model designed for worldwide distribution, branded as the Mona L03 in China, which stands for “Made Of New AI.” In Europe, it will be marketed simply as the Xpeng L03. “With the new Xpeng L03, we’re introducing a compact and competitively priced entry-level model that embodies our brand virtues,” says Markus Schrick, managing director of Xpeng’s Central European sales region.

Dimensions and Design Features

The L03 is approximately 4.65 meters in length with a wheelbase of 2.85 meters, making it comparable to the popular Tesla Model Y while being slightly smaller than Xpeng’s G6 model. This coupe-style SUV features standard 18-inch wheels, with an option for upgrading to 20 inches. Notably, it boasts a favorable aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.228, enhancing its efficiency.

Interior Technology

Inside, the L03 comes equipped with an 8.8-inch instrument display and an impressive 26.8-inch head-up display. Central to the cockpit is a 15.6-inch touchscreen with a sharp 2.5K resolution. Xpeng promises a fully localized user interface along with Google Voice Assistant for enhanced safety and functionality, compensating for the limited physical controls.

Comfort features include optional massage and climate-controlled seating, a fixed glass roof above the passengers, and a rear cargo space of 539 liters, which expands to 1,640 liters with rear seats folded down. Additionally, the front trunk provides an extra 102 liters of storage.

Performance Specifications

The rear-wheel-drive version of the L03 is designed for efficiency, delivering 183 kW of power and sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds. It features lithium iron phosphate batteries available in two sizes: 58.3 kWh and 71.2 kWh, providing ranges of 445 and 520 kilometers, respectively, under the WLTP cycle. The all-wheel-drive version enhances performance with an additional front motor delivering 285 kW, achieving 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds.

Rapid Charging Capabilities

The L03 incorporates a 400-volt system that allows for a maximum charging power of 238 kW. Xpeng claims that charging from 10% to 80% takes only 20 minutes, positioning it as a fast charger in its class. Competing models like the Volkswagen ID.4 start around €46,750, but the L03 is expected to offer faster charging at a lower price point, making it an attractive proposition.

Advanced Driving Assistance

A highlight of the L03 is its advanced driving assistance system powered by Xpeng’s proprietary Turing-AI platform, equipped with an in-house AI chip. The top variant offers 750 TOPS of computing power, while the Ultra-SE model doubles this with two chips at 1500 TOPS. The L03 includes a Vision-Language-Action architecture for its driving assistance system, facilitating integration of visual data, voice commands, and driving actions. This technology promises improved handling in urban environments and adverse weather conditions.

Pricing and Market Position

The L03 is poised to enter the market at a competitive starting price of €35,600 for the base 58 kWh variant, with the 71 kWh version available for an additional €3,000. The all-wheel-drive model starts at €41,600. For those seeking extended range, the L03 will also be available with a range extender powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, promising a total range of up to 1,000 kilometers.

With its competitive pricing and advanced features, the L03 is positioned below Xpeng’s more expensive G6 model. It aims to attract a broader demographic in the mid-range electric SUV market, directly competing with the likes of the Tesla Model Y and the Leapmotor B10, which starts at around €30,000.

Expected deliveries in Europe are scheduled for late 2026 to early 2027, making the Xpeng L03 a highly anticipated newcomer in the electric SUV segment.
