During the game in the RCDE stadium of Barcelona, a depressed mood suddenly develops in the arena. Referee Soto reacts quickly.
It should be the game in which FC Barcelona crowns itself with coach Hansi Flick to the new master in Spain – but the initial phase of the city derosely near Espanyol was overshadowed by a terrifying incident: a car drove into a crowd in front of the stadium, there were 13 injuries (more read here).
The news apparently spread quickly within the stadium, shortly after the game kick-off, there was unrest in the arena, especially behind the goal of Espanyol goalkeeper Joan García. It was played for almost seven minutes when it suddenly became quiet in the ranks. “We ask for your attention: We have to inform you that the situation in front of the stadium is under control and that there was no serious injuries,” was said at this time about the loudspeakers of the stadium.
The game on the field was then interrupted. Referee César Soto briefly discussed with representatives of both teams and a representative of the Mossos d’Esquadra, the Catalan police. Moments later the decision was clear: the game continued at 0: 0. And teams and fans were able to concentrate on the game again.
