Ex-Milan professional Samu Castillejo continues his career outside of Europe for the first time. The 30 -year -old wing player joins the Malaysian record champion Joor Darul Ta’zim half a year after he was terminated with the contract at FC Valencia.
Castillejo is the 13th player in the squad who comes from Spain – five of them now have another first citizenship. It is questionable whether the attacker for JDT will be used for JDT in the Malaysia Super League. The eleventh title has been early in the pocket since Monday and so far, due to the foreigner regulation, half of the now 20 legionnaires around ex-PSG professional Jesé (32) must also watch every match day.
Rather, Castillejo should contribute to the fulfillment of Joor’s great dream of the Champions League title. The Malaysian top club is in the round of 16 for the second time after 2022, in which the Thai record champion Buriram United is waiting on March 4 and 11.
Castillejo switched from FC Villarreal to AC Milan for 21.3 million euros in 2018. With the Rossoneri he won the championship in 2022. Afterwards he moved back to Spain to FC Valencia. Last season Castillejo was loaned to the US Sassuolo, for which he remained in 19 games without goal participation. After relegation to series B, he returned to Valencia, where his contract was dissolved prematurely due to a lack of perspective.
