A50 between Arnhem and Apeldoorn closed for more than two weeks; delay at least half an hour | Apeldoorn

Rijkswaterstaat warns of serious traffic disruption on the Arnhem-Apeldoorn route if the A50 between the Waterberg and Beekbergen interchanges is closed to all traffic for sixteen days next month. The road manager expects this to delay road users at least half an hour.

The 21-kilometer road section will be closed on Friday 5 August. The first road users will be able to re-enter the highway between Arnhem and Apeldoorn by Monday morning, August 22, 5.00 a.m. at the latest. This will include new asphalt and road markings and crash barriers have been repaired or renewed.

During the highway maintenance work over the Veluwe, traffic from Arnhem and Nijmegen in the direction of Apeldoorn is diverted via the A12, A30 and A1. Road users who want to go to Twente or the Achterhoek must drive via the A12 and A18/N18. Local traffic must observe the yellow diversion signs.

‘Work from home where possible’

Rijkswaterstaat advises to avoid the work as much as possible by working from home where possible, traveling outside rush hour or using public transport. If you nevertheless have to take the road at busy times, it is recommended to consult the current traffic information in advance and to take extra travel time into account. It is estimated at about thirty minutes.

The major maintenance work on the A50 this summer is one of the major traffic interventions in the region, together with the work on the John Frost Bridge in Arnhem. It will be closed to motorized traffic at noon on the night of Saturday 23 to Sunday 24 July. The bridge must be operational again on Saturday 10 September.
