22-year-old skier Eero Rantala ripped off a wild performance at the Winter Games in Kainuu.

Rantala, representing the Vuokatti Ski Team, won the men’s 12 km traditional race, which was skied with intermediate starts.

Among others, the three-time World Cup medalist, Ristomatti Hakola from Jämin Jänte, was left behind. The difference between the top two at the finish line was 6.7 seconds.

Hakola pushed the fastest speed almost the whole way, but at the end he fell behind Rantala.

Kuusamo’s Erä-Veikkoin finished third in the competition Kalle Parantainen.

In the Winter Games, women also ski 12 kilometers on traditional. Anni Alakoski from Ylivieska Kuula emerged as the winner.

Alakoski defeated the second placed Vuokatti Ski Team By Selene Ross with 2.3 seconds. Anne Kyllönen brought the Kainuu Skiing Club’s colors to the finish line in the third fastest time.
