Anna-Kaisa Saarenpää’s vacation ended in a rough way.

Saarenpää, reached by Iltalehti, says that as a former flight attendant, her sensory horns went up as soon as the plane landed.
– I saw from the window that now we are going right to the edge of the Plata. Normally, we usually always go straight to the gate to get inside warm, he says.
After this, the captain made an announcement about the bomb threat to the flight.
– The adrenaline rose for a moment, he describes his mood after the announcement.
However, the atmosphere on the plane was calm after the threatening announcement, which surprised Saarenpää. At first, he thought it was because the Announcement was made in Finnish, but even though it was soon repeated in English, the atmosphere remained calm.
– When I looked around, everyone seemed to be quite calm, both the other passengers and the crew. The captain’s announcement was also very calm, and there was no worry or panic, says Saarenpää.
After the announcement, the passengers were left to wait for instructions from the authorities who were waiting at the airport. Soon, they started to leave the plane one by one according to the instructions, keeping a safety distance of two meters.
The passengers were met by an airport bus. According to Saarenpää, his choice of outfit was not the best possible for the situation.
– Of course, the person from Meikälä didn’t have any outer clothes, only short shorts. It got a little cool there, he says with a laugh.
After arriving at the terminal, passengers were left waiting for their bags. However, Saarenpää, who lives in Vantaa, headed home and collected his luggage only the next day.
– I guessed that the bags probably wouldn’t arrive for several hours, since it took a long time just to remove the people.
The situation was eventually resolved with a scare. Saarenpää praises the professional behavior of the aircraft’s staff and describes it as creating a sense of security for the passengers.
– We didn’t have any information about where the threat had come from, but luckily in the accident, the situation ended up going quite calmly and well, he states.

On Wednesday, a Finnair flight from Phuket, Thailand to Helsinki was targeted by a bomb threat. Finnair’s communications manager Sanna Silvennoinen confirmed to Iltalehti what happened. However, he did not comment on the details of the incident or whether it was a baseless threat.
Most of the threats to Finnair’s air traffic are baseless.
– We always treat threats seriously. Flight safety is our top priority. We have a clear process of how we act in these cases, Silvennoinen said.
