Inka Keteli set up a wedding account on social media as a counterattack to the vagrants.

Salmon soup and Karelian pies are the wedding food of Inka Ketel and her future husband. However, the soup in the picture is not served at their wedding. Roni Lehti

Inka Ketel the wedding budget has been a shock to many who follow her social media account, but for just as many it has been a happy surprise. The budget is 5000 euros.

This week, Keteli published an update on her Ikoset2026 account, in which she said that their wedding budget does not fit buffet food, but guests are offered soup, salmon and vegetable soup, as well as Karelian pies and bread baked by the caterer.

By offering soup, you save around 600-900 euros.

This decision aroused surprise in some of the followers. One asked directly, why have a wedding if you can’t afford a proper catering. He urged to go with a small group to the registry office and to the restaurant, and not to fish for gift money.

Keteli tells Iltalehti that she is mostly amused and amused by people’s comments. He states that the future couple is so sure of their own wedding style that nasty comments don’t make them angry or sad.

– I knew that our budget would do some talking, but I really didn’t know how to think of such a reception, Keteli says on the phone.

Salmon soup mainly raised two kinds of concerns. About half of the commenters were worried about allergies and the other half doubted whether the soup is filling enough, so it should be mentioned separately in the invitation.

– Someone said that it’s nice to be hungry all day. I was told to put on the invitation that the guests should bring their own snacks.

Next summer’s wedding couple stands behind their decisions, so they just laugh at people’s need to comment critically on everything. Inka Keteli

However, it has been clear from the beginning for next summer’s wedding couple that soup will be served at the wedding. If you try to save a little of everything, then food is also included in the savings targets.

Keteli has also received a message stating that not enough investment or time has been spent on the wedding if the budget is small. Keteli disagrees with this.

– Yes, we invest an awful lot of time in these, certainly more than in a big budget wedding. We are getting a high-quality wedding with a smaller amount of money.

Keteli states that this is exactly why she has started posting wedding arrangements publicly. The wedding account was created as a reaction to the big budget wedding preparations that fill social media.

Keteli wants to spark a conversation. Some is full of fancy buffets and those expensive weddings, but according to him, it’s quite normal to organize a wedding party at a lower price.

In addition to criticism, there have also been many encouraging and appreciative comments. It shows that not everyone spends tens of thousands of euros on their wedding.

– I have been thanked that finally someone is talking about a wedding with a smaller budget.

Marttaliito’s leading expert in food and home care Niina Silander states to Iltalehte regarding the wedding services, that there is not just one way to organize a party.

– Parties can and should have their own look and size. So I think that the soup is also suitable for party serving, Silander continues.

He reminds us that nowadays many weddings are also held in restaurants, banquet halls with a catering service, or we do the catering ourselves or together with family and friends.

– By making and offering, for example, soup or hearty salads, you can save on party catering. A smaller budget doesn’t have to be a reason not to celebrate, Silander sums up.
