In the home kitchen, we often encounter a situation where the contents of a canning jar are not immediately used up. Tomato puree, crushed tomatoes and tuna can be left over. An opened can containing food should never be placed in the refrigerator as it is.

Food Agency instructs that the remaining food should be transferred to another storage container. The reason for this is tin. When the can is opened, the inside of the can comes into contact with oxygen and the tin starts to dissolve from the can into the food in it.

Even if the can has a separate layer of lacquer, it usually breaks when the can is opened, allowing tin to get into the food.

For the same reason, the contents of dented cans should also be left unused. It is a good idea to check the condition of the cans in the store before putting them in the shopping cart.
