Pelicans, Ilves and Tappara opened the CHL season. The CHL ice hockey season started for three Finnish teams on Thursday, when Tampere Ilves traveled to the Czech Republic, Tappara to Denmark and Lahti Pelicans played host to Växjö. The Pelicans were unable to challenge Sweden’s big club and suffered a 1-5 loss. Lars Bryggman completed the Lahti team’s only goal two minutes before the game-changing penalty.
