National striker comes from Bremen: BVB guides the filling pitcher to Dortmund

Status: 08/31/2023 9:09 p.m

Reinforcement for the runners-up on the offensive: National striker Niclas Füllkrug joins Borussia Dortmund. He moves from Bundesliga competitor Werder Bremen to the Ruhr area.

BVB announced this on Thursday (08/31/2023), one day before the end of the transfer window. At the matchday press conference before the game against newly promoted Heidenheim (Friday, 8:30 p.m.), coach Edin Terzic blocked questions about the filling pitcher.

Media reports: Six million euros salary

The 30-year-old has a contract with his new club until 2026, as BVB announced on Thursday. According to media reports, Füllkrug should collect a salary of six million euros per year. The transfer fee for the 30-year-old is said to be 15 million euros.

Füllkrug’s contract with the Green-Whites ran until 2025. Both sides had repeatedly emphasized that they wanted to find the best solution for the player and the club.

Filling jug as a competitor and substitute for Haller in winter

At BVB, filling pitcher Sébastien Haller (29) will compete – and thus probably displace his national team colleague Youssoufa Moukoko (18). Filling jug becomes in Dortmund play in the Champions League and hope that this will give them a better chance of being nominated for the European Championships at home next year.

The commitment of the German national striker also represents a kind of insurance for Dortmund in the winter when Haller will be absent due to his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast.

His debut for Borussia Dortmund Füllkrug could possibly celebrate in the upcoming game against Heidenheim (Friday, 8.30 p.m.).
