Recently, a pair of peregrine falcons took over the church tower of St. Margareta’s Church as a breeding ground. The female, which fledged as a chick in 2025 from St. Martin’s Basilica in Halle, has since found a mate on the coast.
Peregrine falcons usually lay three to five eggs during this period, which are mainly incubated by the female. The male temporarily takes over that task when she goes hunting. The eggs hatch after about 32 days. A few weeks later the young exercise their flight muscles and fledge after six weeks.
