Osborne Park Football Club, an Australian football minor league club, has received a two-year suspension, reports Australia’s ABC channel.
The reason is the August night out, which caused a huge uproar in Australia. The society organized a party, the dress code of which was “fun outfit”. One of the players of the representative team decided to “dress up” as a physicist as Stephen Hawking.
The player arrived with a gaming chair to which various screens were attached. The male person was dressed in straight trousers and a small jacket, in which Hawking was often seen. To top it all off, there was child pornography on the screens of the gaming chairs.
Hawking, who died in 2018, was suffering from ALS.
Pictures of the football player spread also to social media. The authorities of the city in Perth got a tip about the incident and the next day they found the outfit used by the player and the gaming chair in the club’s premises.
The police also investigated the case, but the player avoided criminal charges. The Osborne Park club, on the other hand, described the incident as “extremely embarrassing”.
The club has two weeks to appeal the penalty imposed by the Perth Football League.
