A drowned man today in Girona joins the three deceased on Saturday on Catalan beaches

A 65 year old man drowned this Sunday while bathing on the beach of Estartit, in Torroella de Montgrí (Girona). It’s about the fourth death on Catalan beaches this weekend and the tenth since the summer campaign period began on June 15, and which will last until September 15.

The 112 emergency telephone number received at 1:30 p.m. the notice that the beach lifeguard services had pulled an unconscious man out of the water, Civil Protection reports in a statement.

The lifeguards have carried out resuscitation maneuvers until the arrival of the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM), which have continued with cardiopulmonary resuscitation without success.

At the time of the incident there was a lifeguard service on the beach and the yellow flag was waving by the state of the sea.

Civil Protection has requested that precautions be taken on beaches and swimming pools in the coming days, when an episode of very high temperatures is expected in Catalonia.
