Eppu Normaali said today that he is quitting.
Eppu Normaali, founded in 1976, announced today at a press conference in Tampere that it is closing.
The announcement has caused Finns to comment on the news.
– This is a great way to organize a press conference. True to his style until the end. Congratulations on a wonderful career and great production up to classics, reads one of the comments.
– I remember when my big brother liked Epui and it was listened to a lot. I also later started listening to them and also went to a concert. I have Eppu’s LPs. I myself am 56 years old from Tampere. A good continuation for the Ylöjärvi boys, Ninni commented in Iltalehti’s survey.
– I was 15 years old when Eppu Normaali started conquering Finland, and many songs from the early stages remained for the young man as signposts for various turning points in life. As I got older, the lyrics started to mean a lot and when my friends included e.g. Myllykoski’s Pekka, so for example Tuuliajto’s tours came because of Eppuje and Juice. You still have to sing along when Eppuja is heard, another comment is heard.
The decision to stop has also attracted negative comments.
– Eppu Normaali’s concert at the opening of the Nokia Areena was a record low. Martti Syrjä’s singing is hard to hear these days, I don’t know if it has ever been better, says one comment on Iltalehti’s hot line.
Many on social media point out that there hasn’t been any new music from Epui for years.
