The German record champions had levied serious accusations after the violation of Alphonso Davie’s. Now there is a reaction – and it is clear.
Association spokesman Paulo Senra told “The Athletic” that the processes related to medical care were checked again. “The medical documents confirm that the treatment protocols were adhered to properly,” said the official. In addition, the Canadian medical team claimed the Bundesliga club “throughout the tournament”. Further discussions with the Munich people have also been held “to explain the context and the details and to clear up any misunderstandings”.
Davies injured the Concacaf Nation League against the United States in the game for third place. The game had no sporting relevance for the tournament. Originally, Canada Soccer had still given the all -clear. It was only after returning to Munich that the left -back had suffered a cruciate ligament tear.
The Bundesliga club reacted with sharp criticism on Friday. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen told the “Bild” that Canada Soccer was asked to provide complete information and expressly reserve the right to take legal action.
Sports director Christoph Freund also clearly commented: “How it went was not correct. It was borderline and negligent.” He also emphasized: “We are the employer and also pay the players, so we will pursue this.”
