The Turkish skier Berkin Usta died at the age of 24 at a hotel fire in a ski resort near Bursa. In 2022 he participated in the slalom and the giant slalom at the Olympic Winter Games of Beijing. His father Yahya Usta, who was chairman of the Turkish association of ski and snowboard teachers, also died through the fire. His mother Fikriye survived the fire.
