Ski jumper Philipp Raimund did not participate in the World Cup Friday competition from Planica Airmäki.

The 24-year-old German brought the cause of his absence honestly on social media. He was scared.

– Many of you have asked why I don’t jump. Here’s an explanation. As some of you know, I’m afraid of high places. Usually fear stays in my control and it does not cause problems, but sometimes my body reacts to fear in a way I can’t control, Raimund writes.

Raimund says that as the fear strikes, he is paralyzed for a moment. In ski jumping, it is very dangerous, especially when it comes to Airmäki like Planica.

Raimund does not play with his health. So he honestly recognized the facts about the competition on the side.

Raimund is not a dozen man in the World Ski Jumping World Cup. This season he joined second in the competitions in Salt Lake City. A week ago in Lahti, he finished fifth in a personal race. In addition, he has been a German team credit jumper on the team hill.

Raimund was seventh in the Trondheim World Championships, 15 in Normal Hill and fourth in the team race.
