Harry Kane is a phenomenon – but he is not irreplaceable. Yes, he meets like on the assembly line. Yes, it looks like the only Bayern star that guarantees consistency and permanent world class. But that is exactly why the perfect time for FC Bayern is now to get the maximum out of this transfer – especially financially.
Should Kane seriously deal with a change in his second season, he would send a clear signal. And that would be poison for a club that finally wants to build an axis again. Kane turns 32 in July. He is not a long-term fixed point anyway, but an aging superstar, apparently with Premier League home.
Bavaria would also be guilty of coming to him. The striker wanted to go to Bavaria to win the Champions League or a title at all. This was completely failed in the first year. In the second, a victory in the Champions League would be at least a surprise.
Instead of continuing to depend on Kane’s goals, Bavaria should be brave. Hugo Ekitiké, 22, brings everything that Kane once made great – pace, technology, goal. Šeško, Gyökeres or Openda are also not names for the second row.
The timing is perfect: Kane is in great demand, its quota top, its market value high. And Bavaria can use the money well to sign in addition to a new top striker Leverkusens Florian Wirtz and Atléticos Nico Williams. That would be investments in the future.
