It seems strong that the new talk show that RTL 4 is working should be a kind of late version of RTL Boulevard, says media journalist Gudo Tienhooven. “The big question is: does Renze Klamer want that?”
Renze Klamer was well on his way to becoming the celebrated man of the late TV evening, but his boss Peter van der Vorst throws a spanner in the works. The RTL 4 boss pulls Renze’s name off the wall and forces him to receive guests and Humberto Tan guests in a program with the generic title RTL Tonight together with Beau van Erven Dorens and Humberto.
Boulevard 2.0
What kind of show is it going to be? Media journalist Gudo Tienhooven of the AD has taken care of things. “What they want to make of it is – I hear that very often – is the cry: ‘Boulevard 2.0’. Yes, news shops are discussed, but more light entertainment, more cheerfulness and humor and cosiness and a band and so on.”
RTL has put on a new producer for this: Endemolshine. Gudo continues in the AD Media Podcast: “RTL also wants more grip on that. Ewart van der Horst, the current producer, is always very proud of editorial independence:” I don’t want to get topics split by the RTL leadership. “
Does Renze want this?
Gudo wonders if Renze doesn’t feel sewn. “On Ewart you don’t get a grip and RTL wants more control on the program and they do get that done with the new producer.”
“Then the question comes to the surface again:” Which presenters are looking forward to that? ” Has such a Renze, who is now really making a name like a solid journalist who can interview well – I think of the three the best that is there – is he looking forward to it? ”
Cost savings
The current producer Ewart came along with Eva Jinek years ago, but she has been gone for a long time. “But her entire team was taken then,” Gudo explains. “Those are all very expensive people. They all also received 20 percent wage increases when they went to RTL, so those are just expensive powers.”
That talk show metamorphosis is therefore also just a cost saving, he continues. “All these people have to apply again for their own position for the new producer of the talk shows.”
Expensive location
Renze probably also has to leave Amsterdam, Gudo concludes. “What I also hear is: there has been a wish for a long time to bring that expensive location – because they are now at the plantation in the center of Amsterdam – back to Hilversum.”
“It would be a Giller if that is the case at some point, because then Eva Jinek will be in the very expensive studio in the center of Amsterdam at the public broadcaster and the commercial channel then goes back to Hilversum for cost -saving considerations.”
