It is still connected to winter sports: Felix Neureuther. However, the former ski racer has a demand for parents.

Felix Neureuther turned 41 on Wednesday and posted a cute photo of his children from his children on Instagram. On this you can see how the former ski racer looks into the camera with a wide grin, while several small children’s hands shout his face mischievously. In the past, the family man has repeatedly been talking about how important it is to do sports with his children – gladly also winter sports (you can read more about this here).

In the winter sports podcast of the Sportschau, too, Neureuther was asked why Norway produced a lot of potters compared to Germany. The former ski star initially referred to the geographical advantages: The Swiss had the mountains right on the doorstep, in Norway you could feel skiing all year round. In his view, however, one thing is decisive: the structure.

“There is a health culture overall, also in the way the children grow up there – in the kindergartens. In the schools. They do not specialize so early for a sport, but are broadly set up,” says Neureuther, who adds: “They then decide at the age of 13, 14, one can choose from five sports.

This is different in this country: “With us in Germany, you feel like you specialize in a sport at eight or nine years, because you want to be very good early. This thinking that the children can only be good later if they are good – that’s not true in the form. That’s why I always say, please, dear parents or trainers, just let the children do several sports.”
