For Franziska Preuss, a successful season came to an end at the weekend. Now the German athlete is moving into the sun.

After an emotional seasonal finals on the Holmenkollen, Franziska Preuss is now longing for a well -deserved break. “We go on vacation relatively quickly, biathlon interested in the country,” said the newly baked overall World Cup winner in an interview with ARD. The 30-year-old plans to switch off in Thailand: “Winter sport is very far away,” she said, emphasizing how much she was looking forward to not being addressed to her sport for two weeks. According to the German Press Agency, Preuss flies on vacation with her partner Simon Schempp.

The past few weeks in the World Cup have mainly mentally consumed it, Preuss said. Especially the ever closer duel with the French woman Lou JeanMonnot around the yellow jersey was stressful. Inw. Prusser described it as follows: “The Lou gets closer and closer that you don’t let it up.”

In the final start of Oslo, Prussia managed to recapture the top position, which was lost in the meantime, because JeanMonnot fell on the final round when trying an overtaking maneuver. “It couldn’t have been more exciting,” said Preuss. However, the final jubilation was long in coming because a protest from the French team had to be withdrawn first. “It was a difficult situation until that was clarified,” said Preuss. “I didn’t make anything for it, but you don’t really like to win that way, you want to fight until the finish line.”

After the race, Preuss showed greatness and asked JeanMonnot to the highest podium at the award ceremony. “I said to the Lou that you should actually cut the ball in the middle and everyone gets half,” she said: “But that’s how sport is, now it was on my side.”

Preuss did not know where their trophies will be in the future in the overall World Cup and in the sprint and mass starting ratings in the future. “I have to admit that my first ball won in the basement is in the storage room,” said the biathlete. However, she will find a suitable place for the new trophies: “Maybe we will find a nice shelf for the balls in the weight room. But we have enough time for that.”
