The cross-country season ends on Sunday. However, an exceptional cloister will not be there at the final in Lathi in Finnish.
Ski star Harald Østberg Amundsen has to cancel his participation in the season finale in Lahti on Sunday. The Norwegian cross -country skier has not overcome his health problems and will not start over the 50 kilometers. This also has an impact on its placement in the overall World Cup.
The 25-year-old was awakened on Friday with health problems and then had to cancel both the sprint and the team sprint in Finland, said national coach Arild Monsen.
“He has gotten sick today and on the way back to Norway. We waited a little more than a day whether his condition improves, but unfortunately it got worse,” said Monsen at Viaplay.
Instead of Østberg Amundsen, Jonas Vika from Mjøsli club will get the chance on Sunday.
The health problems of Østberg Amundsen also have an impact on the World Cup. Before the Lahti races, he was still in third place in the overall classification behind the Swedes Edvin Anger and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo. On Friday, however, he was overtaken by Erik Valnes and Federico Pellegrino. Due to his renewed cancellation, Østberg Amundsen now has no way to get third place in the World Cup ranking.
